The Danelectro company was sold to the “Music Corporation of America” (MCA) in 1966, moving to a much larger plant in Neptune City, New Jersey, employing more than 500 people. In a three-digit serial number, the third digit represents the last digit of the year. For instance, a “12” means it was made in the twelfth week of the year. The first two digits represent the week of the year it was made. Most serial numbers on Danelectro guitars have either three or four digits.
